What Does it Mean?

To Work on Oneself…

Talks on the Gurdjieff/Ouspensky Work following Dr. Maurice Nicoll, J. G. Bennett, and Madame Jeanne de Salzmann
               with Dr. Rosemary Christoph

     First Sundays, 6 - 7:30 pm   (July 7, Aug 4, Sep 1, etc.)
      Suggested donation $15-10 (sliding scale)

After many many years of searching, G. I. Gurdjieff synthesized an array of teachings – Sufi, Hindu, Tibetan, Judeo Christian – in a method of self development that depends upon self observation.

By rigorously observing one's own habits of mind, body and feeling, and then working on self awareness and self remembrance, a genuine change can evolve from a confrontation with one's own being. P. D. Ouspensky was able to capture the essence of this teaching in his amazing book In Search of the Miraculous.

Join us for one or all of these monthly, informal talks and explore this powerful approach to self inquiry.

Monthly Topics

July 7 - Preparing the Vessel: Internal considering describes an inner world consumed by appearances and concern about what others think of us. External considering would be a genuine concern for others which wants for another person their highest good. How can we foster this in ourselves? What is real compassion? Conscious devotion? Conscious love?

August 4 - Self Remembrance

September 1 - Understanding, Grace & Being

For more info re: ideas/groups, contact Rosemary Christoph (413-625-0275 or rosemarychristoph@comcast.net) or Ana Bennett (978-544-5225 or anabennett@gis.net).

Dr. Rosemary Christoph has been a student of the Gurdjieff/Ouspensky work for over 30 years, with journeys also into Native American traditions, Siddha Yoga and Buddhism. She is a psychotherapist, teacher and family counselor who presently lives in Shelburne Falls.

iRest Yoga Nidra
            with James Daikan Bastien
  Wednesdays 7 - 8:15 pm, July 17 - Aug 21
$72 for six-week series (only $60 if registered by July 10)
               Pre-registration requested

^^ FREE CLASS July 10!

iRest Yoga Nidra has been developed over the past twenty-six years by Richard Miller, PhD, a clinical psychologist, author, researcher and yogic scholar, and is uniquely suitable for a Western audience. Extensive research has shown that iRest effectively supports the healing process across a broad range of populations. Currently, there are iRest programs in hospitals, hospices, clinics, schools, and organizations supporting personal growth and well-being.

iRest is integrative, in that it heals the various unresolved issues, traumas, and wounds that are present in the body and mind. iRest is restorative in that it aids its practitioners in recognizing their underlying peace of mind that is always present amidst all changing circumstances of life. People using iRest report: decreased stress, anxiety, fear and depression * decreased insomnia and sleep disturbances * decreased perception of chronic and acute pain * improved interpersonal relations * increased energy levels * increased sense of control in their lives * more confidence and joy in their lives * greater sense of peace and well-being

iRest programs are typically taught as a guided meditation. Students can expect to lie down or sit comfortably during the practice. A typical session begins with development of intention, body and breath awareness, and proceeds with systematic neutralization of negative feelings, emotions, beliefs, images and memories. The result is an experience of joy, well-being and peace. No experience necessary. Runs July 17 - Aug 21.

Cost is $72 for the six-week series (only $60 if registered by July 10). Space is limited, pre-registration is requested. Sorry no drop-ins.

***FREE SAMPLE CLASS WED. JULY 10th, 7 - 8:15 pm***
